Schreiber Unhappy With 'Squirrel-like' X-men Action Figure

From: imdb.com

Actor Liev Schreiber is disappointed with the action figurine of his X-men Origins: Wolverine character - because the toy looks like "an angry squirrel".

Schreiber plays Victor Creed, who eventually adopts the mutant alter-ego of Sabretooth, opposite Hugh Jackman's Wolverine in the box office smash.

But the 41-year-old is not completely happy with the plastic figurine of Sabretooth, likening the doll to the bushy-tailed tree creature.

He says, "I have one complaint about it, not that I'm not excited to finally have an action figure after all these years, but I want to know what compelled the designers of this action figure to - I'm assuming they read the plotline for the movie and saw that I play this prehistoric game cat - but what possessed them to make me look like an angry squirrel? You can almost see the nuts (in the mouth)!"

However, Schreiber's eldest son with actress Naomi Watts doesn't share his father's view - the Sabretooth doll is one of 21-month-old Alexander's favourite play things: "He has a bag of toys, that he calls the turtle bag, that he puts his favourite toys in and it took a tense 15 minutes (before he put it in the bag)."

Sasha, who was hospitalized overnight for respiratory issues, was released Wednesday morning.

"Sasha got home today and is feeling much better after being hospitalized on Tuesday night with respiratory problems," Schreiber's rep Ina Treciokas tells PEOPLE.

Schreiber Almost Killed In Surfing Accident

From: imdb.com

Actor Liev Schreiber cheated death when he was caught up by a riptide while learning to surf off the coast of Australia.

The movie star was holidaying with Aussie partner Naomi Watts when he decided to give surfing a try off the coast of Sydney suburb Tamarama - and it almost killed him.

The 42 year old tells Sydney's Daily Telegraph newspaper he thought he knew how to outswim the riptide - but he was wrong.

He says, "The stupid thing I did was instead of letting the rip take me and my surfboard out and then swimming back around the top, I said, 'I can swim out of this...' I was exhausted."

And the current dragged him to a cove, called McKenzies, where waves crash against a rock wall.

He adds, "It was like a washing machine. I've never experienced a break like it. It was so quick and strong with no room to get out at the end. The break just picked me up and dumped me in the rocks and wouldn't let me up.

"My leash got tangled around both legs so I couldn't get my legs out to swim. That's when I started sucking down water."

It was his training as a lifeguard in his teens that saved his life.

He explains, "I didn't move my legs and actually rested underwater and waited until my legs untangled and then floated back up. I got nailed a couple of times. But I didn't panic and I was able to swim to safety."

Watts and Schreiber Married?

From:

Naomi Watts has prompted speculation she and boyfriend Liev Schreiber have married in secret in Australia, by showing off a ring on her wedding finger. The pair have been in Watts' homeland while her beau shoots new movie Wolverine there. But Australian newspapers are speculating they took time out to tie the knot during Watts' trip down under to visit Schreiber - after a snapper caught the actress "wearing a large diamond ring and another band with smaller diamonds on her ring finger" as she arrived back in Los Angeles on Monday . The couple were forced to issue a statement denying they had married in June 2007 after Schreiber joked to reporters, "We are married. You got it first. Break the story!" This time around, Watts' representative is refusing to confirm or deny the reports, telling New York gossip column PageSix.com, "I don't comment on her personal life."

Howl of a big party on set for Jackman

From:
By: Christine Sams

THE claws were out at a celebrity party last night, but only to honour Hugh Jackman's action film Wolverine.

Jackman splashed out on a VIP party for the cast in Sydney, inviting friends, including Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber, to an exclusive soiree.

Jackman and his wife, Deborra-lee Furness, who have been in town during the making of the action film, were the hosts of the event for cast and crew.

Not only does Jackman play the ultra-hairy Wolverine in the big-budget film, his production company, Seed - also run by John Palermo and Furness - is involved in making it.

Jackman spent up big on the party, supplying gourmet catering for A-list guests and hiring entertainers.

It has been a busy few nights for the Wolverine production team.

On Friday night, cast and crew transformed a Sydney park into a sci-fi playground to film scenes.

The shoot took place at Federal Park in Glebe with Jackman and Furness keeping a close eye on proceedings.

Tight security was in place as scenes were shot overnight, although parked trucks in the usually sleepy road surrounding the park and a few mutant types wandering around gave residents an indication something unusual was up.

Jackman agreed to create the Wolverine spin-off after the success of the X-Men films, in which he gained global stardom as the superhero.

The star has trained extensively for the role - eating strictly controlled meals every three hours - to maintain the bulk needed to portray the character.

Production for Wolverine began in New Zealand last month, before shifting to Sydney.

Watts has returned to Australia, with her young son Alexander, to accompany her partner, Schreiber, during the shoot. After Sydney the production heads to New Orleans.

Wolverine is due for worldwide release next year.

Little let-up for Hugh

From: Christine Sams.

Hugh Jackman is sharpening his claws for his next action flick, with the actor shifting to New Zealand to film Wolverine.
Jackman, who enjoyed three weeks' holiday with his wife Deborra-lee Furness and kids Oscar and Ava, will reprise his role as the hairy action hero from the X-Men films.
The spin-off film, which is officially tagged X-Men Origins: Wolverine, is in pre-production in New Zealand. Jackman, who had only a brief break between the end of filming Australia and the start of Wolverine, said he didn't mind having a short holiday.
"Most people get four weeks in a year so I don't think anybody will be crying for me," Jackman says. "I'm compartmentalising it in a different way - I'll just work on that [Wolverine] and then I'll take a bit of time off after that."
The involvement of actor Liev Schreiber in the film has prompted rumours Naomi Watts might return to the southern hemisphere with her young son Alexander to accompany Schreiber on set.
Speculation is also rife young Australian actor Kodi Smit-McPhee (who appeared opposite Eric Bana in Romulus, My Father) has scored a key role in the film, which will be a major Hollywood breakthrough for the child star.
Wolverine will be on location in New Zealand for at least four months. The film is due for release next year.
