Ryan Reynolds likes violence
Ryan Reynolds likes "brutal, rugged and ugly" violence.
The 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' actor - who plays assassin Deadpool in the forthcoming superhero movie - only agreed to star in the film because it is so bloody.
He said: "You're not going to see 'Kill Bill'-style blood geysering up from severed heads! But I think you're going to see a kind of violence that's a little more brutal, rugged and ugly. Which is one of the things I liked about it."
Ryan did all his own stunts in the movie, meaning he had to master the art of sword-fighting before shooting began and hopes audiences will be impressed with his new skills.

I’m sure everyone is aware that X-Men Origins: Wolverine leaked online a week or two ago. It was a rough cut with no music and incomplete effects. For those good souls who decided not to watch it, congratulations…however it is clear someone did, as a spoof has appeared online over at Youtube. The best parts are the CGI tennis ball Gambit and the Wolverine vs. tractor battle. Watch below!

Berry Still Determined Not To Wed
Halle Berry has repeated her commitment never to wed again - and she's found a man who shares her anti-marriage stance.
The actress vowed never to be anyone's wife again after she split from her second husband Eric Benet in 2006, and she's sticking to her promise even though she's found love and a family with model Gabriel Aubry.
She tells the new issue of Harper's Bazaar magazine, "I'm done. I happened to find a person who feels done too, and he's never even been married before. So it works."
But the 42 year old is committed to being a mum again, now baby Nahla is one.
She adds, "My pregnancy was amazing. I was happy that whole time, I felt good, I had energy, I was like Superwoman. I wish I could feel like that for the rest of my life, that's how fantastic it was."

Which Movie Has the Better Pizza Promotion: Wolverine or Terminator Salvation?
Posted by Sean.
Nothing says summer blockbuster quite like a good fast food promotion, and although Happy Meals have always been a pretty reliable marketing tool in the past, this year it seems like Hollywood has a hankerin’ for some ‘za instead. Earlier this week Pizza Hut unveiled a new website for Terminator Salvation where they will be showing off exclusive footage from the movie and running a contest with some sweet prizes including a trip to the Hollywood premiere. On top of that, they will also be giving away a free one-topping medium pizza to anyone named John Connor or Sarah Connor on Thursday, May 21. I’m serious.
Not to be outdone, Papa John’s just launched a promotion of their own this week for X-Men Origins: Wolverine. They’re not giving away any prizes, but instead, they’ve created a new pizza specifically for Logan and his pals: the XL X-treme Cheese Pizza, which comes loaded with nearly a full pound of cheese! Genius. Obviously the folks at Fox are still so busy doing damage control on the leaked workprint that they don’t seem to realize that being associated with “a full pound of cheese” might be a bad thing for Wolverine’s rep. Well, at least Papa John’s didn’t give away the movie’s top secret (read: not in the least bit shocking) PG-13 rating. What do you think, which pizza promotion offers the best value in the current economic climate? Is one less embarrassing than the other?

Cumming Hopeful Of X-men Return
British actor Alan Cumming is still hoping to return to the X-men franchise - after he was dropped from the third superhero film.
The star appeared in the second comic book adaption, 2003's X2, as teleporting mutant Nightcrawler and was contracted to return for the 2006 follow-up X-Men: The Last Stand.
Cumming was disappointed when his part in the sequel was scrapped - and admits he would like to be given the chance to reprise the role in the future.
He says, "Nobody's said anything about it, but it might be quite fun to go back. I was supposed to do it again and they didn't pick up my option for a third one. It was sort of 'superhero interruptus'."
Jackman Apologises Over Twitter Blunder
Australian actor Hugh Jackman has been forced to uncover the secret team behind his online blogging - after an employee made an embarrassing error on his Twitter.com page.
The X-Men star has garnered thousands of fans on the social networking site, who are all following his regular online posts.
But Jackman's Twitter blogging came under scrutiny in his native country this week (beg06Apr09) after he mistakenly referred to Sydney's famous Opera House as the 'Opera Centre.'
The star was subsequently forced to admit that he hadn't been updating the page himself - relying on a staff member in America to do his blogging for him.
He says, "I communicated it over the phone and when that got translated by someone American in my office it came out all wrong.
"I do know the Opera House is called the Opera House - I think I had my high school leaving assembly at the Opera House when I was 18 so I should know that one."
Jackman is not the first star to be caught using an online marketing team to manage their internet accounts - both 50 Cent and Britney Spears rely on staff members to help with their web exploits.
McKellen's Struggles With Day-Lewis
Sir Ian McKellen always struggled working with Daniel Day-Lewis - because of the star's extreme acting methods.
The thespians were both members of the Royal Shakespeare Company throughout the 1980s.
McKellen insists he found it difficult to get on with Day-Lewis, because he was so serious about his techniques.
And McKellen reveals the Oscar-winner has maintained his method acting ways throughout his career.
He says, "Daniel insists you address him by his character's name the whole time he is doing a film. If he is speaking with an American accent, he talks all the time in American. If he is riding horseback, then it is horseback all the time."

Photos: Hugh Jackman's Superhero Entrance at "Wolverine" Event
Actor Hugh Jackman is obviously disappointed about "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" leaking online a full month before the film's May 1st release. But he's not going to let that bring him down.
At a Sydney event for "Wolverine," Jackman made a superhero-worthy entrance by arriving at Cackatoo Island by helicopter and then zipping down to the ground on a "flying-fox" line. Once reaching the ground, he then unveiled 20 minutes of the completed footage from the movie.
'Wolverine' Premiere Contest Update
Hugh Jackman says he's "heartbroken" over the recent online leak of X- Men Origins: Wolverine, comparing people seeing the unfinished version of the movie to a Ferrari without its paint. It remains to be seen how the piracy will impact the box office, but I think in the long run the movie will recover.
Kind of lost in that debacle was the very cool decision by Fox to hold an online contest for the U.S. premiere of the film on April 27th. The winning city will be announced on April 20th, so there's still time to vote.
The list of the top ten cities in terms of votes has been released by Fox and while it's not a guarantee that one of these places will hold the premiere, it's a safe bet that if they're leading to this point, knowing they have a legitimate chance to host Jackman, other cast members, and the freakin' Wolverine movie might increase activity in those locations.
Davis, California
Hastings, Nebraska
Austin, Texas
Melbourne, Florida
Dallas, Texas
San Antonio, Texas
Las Vegas, Nevada
Tempe, Arizona
Chicago, Illinois
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Selfishly, I'd kind of like Tempe, Arizona to win, since that theater is literally about four miles from my house. And since I know we have a ton of locals who read The Big Picture, I'll gently encourage you to vote. Also, if we're playing Cinderella rules, there's certainly an appeal for Hastings, Nebraska here, too.
Go to X-MenOrigins.com/Premiere to vote. And good luck to all the cities, except the ones in Texas.
Hugh Jackman Condemns Wolverine Leak; Buzz Still Strong
As unfortunate as the X-Men Origins: Wolverine leak was, it has created a bit more buzz, at least in theory (we have yet to see how well it'll do on opening weekend). Take these results from a recent MovieTickets.com poll: 70% of male ticket buyers polled, and 60% of female ticket buyers, intend to see Wolverine on opening weekend. Additionally, 3 of the 5 age groups polled (Under-24, 25-34, 35-44) list Wolverine as the No. 1 next film they intend to see in theaters. Of course, because it's the first big summer movie opening on May 1st, this could all just be natural, but this is a good sign it'll still do well, I think.
At a recent press event held in Syndey, Australia to kick off the worldwide press tour (via Reuters), Wolverine star Hugh Jackman condemned the leak, saying, "It's a serious crime, and there's no doubt it's very disappointing — I was heartbroken by it." Jackman, who really is the perfect Logan, has been championing this project and the character for a long time, even appearing at Comic-Con last year to debut footage and give his thanks to Wolverine creator Len Wein. "Obviously people are seeing an unfinished film. It's like a Ferrari without a paint job." Let's just hope it's an unfinished Ferrari, not an unfinished jalopy.

Tidbits
Hugh Jackman "Heartbroken" about Wolverine Leak
In the wake of the April Fool's Day Internet leak of an unfinished version of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Fox called the FBI to hunt down the person responsible for the leak, sibling company Fox News fired a columnist who wrote a glowing review of the pirated movie, and now, Hugh Jackman has publicly condemned the leak.
On a promotional tour for Wolverine in his native Australia, Jackman showed 20 minutes of footage from the movie and spoke out about the pirated version.
It's a serious crime and there's no doubt it's very disappointing -- I was heartbroken by it. Obviously people are seeing an unfinished film. It's like a Ferrari without a paint job.
Fox has a lot riding on Wolverine's success. Three potential movies - X-Men Origins: Magneto, X-Men: First Class and Deadpool - will live or die if Wolverine dies at the box office, not to mention other Wolverine sequels. Considering the almost one million downloads of the unfinished version, Fox is justifiably nervous.

Actual Gameplay Footage from 'Wolverine' Game
We've been following the progression of the video game companion to X-Men Origins: Wolverine for a few months, and in addition to having really cool trailers, the designers of the game promise that the action is a little more graphic than what you'll see in the movie.
The game actually comes out on May 1st, the same day as the film, so I guess you can buy the game, then watch the movie, then play the game and make it a big-ass Wolverine weekend. Trailers are a different story than the actual gameplay, because so often, you never see much of the game in the trailer, but rather the cut scenes between stages of the game.
So it's kind of cool to get a look at the real thing from X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Here's what it'll look like if you're Logan strapped to a helicopter. Oh, and former Fox News columnist Roger Friedman illegally downloaded this clip and loved it, so that's about as good an endorsement as you can get.
Not bad, huh? I wish instead of three parts of the same scene we got to see a little more variety, but I'll take it for now. Wolverine is coming out on PS2, PSP, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, DS, and PC formats.
A Look at the Alamo's Secret Screenings to Come
In lieu of last night's hush-hush premiere of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek reboot in Austin, to a crowd fully expecting to see mere clips and then The Wrath of Khan instead, we checked our Inbox of the Future (patent pending) to see what other shenanigans the Alamo Drafthouse might have in store for these coming months...
April 15th -- An admitted sneak screening of X-Men Origins: Wolverine was preceded by the director's cut of Australia, with Hugh Jackman himself collecting money at the door as "a favor to Baz." However, many stayed to take advantage of the opportunity to literally stone Roger Friedman in the parking lot. Several Austinites returned their bongs to their cars when they realized that this didn't mean whatever they thought it meant, while others were commissioned to restrain Hitfix's Drew McWeeny when he took to chucking nearby scooters towards the tied-up Friedman -- a sight which left AICN's Massawyrm in equal awe and fear for his property.
U.S. Lawmakers Call Meeting Over X-Men Leak
Hollywood bosses are fighting to toughen antipiracy laws after a stolen version of Hugh Jackman's new movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine was leaked online.
Executives at 20th Century Fox studios were furious when a full-length print of X-Men Origins: Wolverine began appearing illegally on websites last Tuesday night.
The incident prompted California Representative Howard Berman to call a congressional hearing on Monday.
At the meeting Berman called on legislators and Hollywood heavyweights to discuss introducing bills aimed to make antipiracy laws more rigid between the U.S. and countries where protection of intellectual property is less strict.
He said, "The United States and its trading partners rely heavily on investments in intellectual property to drive our economies. Unfortunately, the incentives and profits for engaging in piracy are high, and the risks of being apprehended and sanctioned are low in many countries around the world. Piracy of copyrighted materials is not a victimless crime, and its global repercussions must be addressed.
FoxNews.Com's Friedman Fired -- Er, Parts Ways
By downloading and reviewing the pirated workprint of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Roger Friedman has lost his job as entertainment columnist for FoxNews.com. After issuing ambiguous statements concerning Friedman's status with the company, Fox News issued a statement Monday afternoon saying that it had met with Friedman earlier in the day and that they had "mutually agreed to part ways immediately." The statement made no mention of the controversy surrounding Friedman's review of the movie ("it exceeds expectations at every turn") or his seemingly tacit approval of online piracy. ("so much easier than going out in the rain"). Earlier, 20th Century Fox, while noting that Fox News is a separate entity within the News Corp family, had condemned the columnist's decision to download the film "whether the review is good or bad." At the Los Angeles Times website, entertainment writer Geoff Boucher commented, "The review was an audacious thing to do (or maybe just stupid) considering that 20th Century Fox, a corporate relative, had gone to the FBI to fight back against the theft and mass piracy."
X-Men Origins Most Pirated Film
A pirated workprint of X-Men Origins: Wolverine that became available online last week has already been accessed more than a million times by BitTorrent users, according to the website TorrentFreak. It currently tops The Pirate Bay's list of the most popular downloads on torrent sites. TorrentFreak indicates that efforts by the film's distributor, 20th Century Fox, to halt the proliferation of the pirated film have been futile -- that no sooner does a torrent site take down a link to a copy of the film in accordance with a notice from the studio than new ones appear. TorrentFreak said that a poll it took of its readers indicated that, among those who downloaded the movie, some 40 percent said that it made them more excited to see it in theaters or on DVD and that only 6 percent said that they believe the pirated copy would be damaging.

Len Wein house fire
Harlan Ellison just posted the following on his website: Monday, April 6 2009 11:55:36 EXTREMELY BAD NEWS
Len Wein called this morning. More than half of his house burned down earlier today. Len and Chris Valada and Chris’s son, Michael, got out okay, but their beloved dog, Sheba, ran back inside and is gone. In addition to both bedrooms, the bathroom, and much of the office, what was burned first was the original art for the first Wolverine story, the cover of GIANT X-MEN #1 and other art pieces worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

"Wolverine" Leaked as a F*ck You to Fox?
By now everyone knows that "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" was leaked online and 20th Century Fox is now frantically trying to find the person responsible. Thousands of people have already downloaded an illegal copy and don't feel bad about it due to their disdain for the studio. In fact, many are happy that it happened.
HollywoodElsewhere is reporting that the person who leaked the film online might have done so to show his hatred for 20th Century Fox and Rupert Murdoch, the Chairman/CEO of NewsCorp which owns the studio.
A contact at 20th Century Fox revealed that days before "Wolverine" appeared online, "Rupert Murdoch received a package at his New York office that contained a DVD copy of the leaked Wolverine."
The sourced added that "most people involved are considering the delivery a big 'eff you' to Murdoch and Fox."
This story is getting better and better. Maybe Fox should make a movie out of this, but first ruin it and then have it stolen and leaked.
