Sneak peak at X-Men origins: Wolverine

Includes a comment by Hugh Jackman.

New Wolverine Pics Hit The Web

From: ShockYa.com

French magazine Climax had a cover story about the highly-anticipated “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”, including a ton of new pics from the film. You can check them out, along with scans of the original magazine, right here.

Set roughly twenty years before the events of the first X-Men film, the “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” focuses on Wolverine’s mysterious and violent past, his induction into the dangerous Weapon X program, his early loves, and the complex relationship he has with fellow mutant and Weapon X member Sabretooth, who will eventually become his nemesis.

The movie stars Hugh Jackman as the clawed mutant Wolverine, Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth, who has similar feral powers to Wolverine, Danny Huston as Colonel Stryker, commander of Weapon X, and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, the sword-weilding, joke-cracking assassin with a healing power like Wolverine’s.

Wolverine, also known as Logan, is a mutant from Marvel Comics. The character first appeared in “Incredible Hulk” #180 in October 1974, and was created and designed by Marvel art director John Romita Sr and writer Len Wein. He was first drawn for publication by Herb Trimpe. One of Marvel’s and the comic industry’s most recognizable characters, Wolverine, an anti-hero with a mysterious and long-lived past, has superhuman healing powers, enhanced animal-like senses, and long claws that he can unleash through his knuckles. His skeleton and claws have been reinforced with the fictional unbreakable metal called adamantium, a result of his time as a test subject for a military super-soldier project that also altered his memories and at one time, turned him into a killing machine.

“X-Men Origins: Wolverine” hits theaters May 1st, 2009.

Wolverine gets earlier release date

From: Filmonic.com

According to Den of Geek the release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine has been moved forward a few days.

The original plan was for the film to get its release on Friday 1st May, but thanks to a quick shuffle of the schedules, it’s now moved into April.

The new date that you need to mark in your diaries is Wednesday 29th April 2009.

This isn’t a big shift and a small change in date is quite common (just like reshoots). The following weekend Star Trek is released so Fox will be trying to get more $$$ before the other summer players show themselves. Considering the future direction of the X-Men franchise depends on the success or failure of Wolverine, this is a good move.

What Wolverine Movie Has Hasbro Been Watching?

From: ToplessRobot.com

Hasbro released pics of its upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie figures this weekend, and some of the more astute of you might notice that, well...none of the above are X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie figures. In fact, that's regular comic Wolverine, Logan and Sabertooth toys, with nary a hint of Hugh Jackman or Liev Schreiber. The question is: do you care, or are you fine with more comic figures?

Apparently, the line will also include a Weapon X Logan -- so naked with a big-ass helmet, I guess -- and a Stealth Logan, which hopefully won't mean the regular Wolverine figure painted blue. But there are also three TBDs according to Entertainment Earth. I would assume the remaining figures would also be comic style, but who are we thinking? The Blob? Silver Fox? Gambit? ...Deadpool?
