Ryan Reynolds talks 'Adventureland,' 'Wolverine'

From: HitFix.com

t's been more than 10 years since Ryan Reynolds had what was probably his breakout role in the sitcom "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place." Since that time, he's appeared in at least 20 film and television projects, some of which were solid hits, but it's hard to pinpoint a defining role for the 32-year-old actor.

Is he the quintessential frat boy who starred in "Van Wilder"? Is he the bearded action star from "Blade: Trinity"? Is he the romantic-comedy Everyman from "Just Friends" or "Definitely Maybe"?

"I get a little cooked doing the same thing over and over," Reynolds tells reporters at the junket for this Friday's (April 3) coming-of-age dramedy "Adventureland." "A lot of people do. The ultimate dream is to be able to do multiple genres and still function properly in those. I love it. I feel fortunate that I'm able to go from genre to genre."

It's beginning to look like 2009 could be a big year for Reynolds, with "Adventureland" opening this month, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" coming out in May and "The Proposal" hitting theaters this summer. While many actors of Reynolds' profile would only be looking at starring vehicles, "The Proposal" is his only lead role of the group.

Ryan Reynolds Pumps Iron to Play 'Deadpool'

32-year-old hunk is reshooting scenes for 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'

Actor Ryan Reynolds works out at a gym in Vancouver, B.C., on Jan. 22. Ryan, 32, has been in Canada re-shooting scenes for the upcoming action flick, X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The film is being re-shot to include more footage of the superfit Reynolds, who plays Wade Wilson (Deadpool). The thriller stars Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Liev Schreiber (as Victor Creed/Sabretooth), Taylor Kitsch (as Remy LeBeau/Gambit) and Lynn Collins (as Silver Fox).

Born James Howlett and commonly known as Logan, Wolverine is a mutant who possesses animal-keen senses, enhanced physical capabilities, retracting bone claws, and a healing factor that allows him to quickly recover from virtually any wound, disease or toxin, enabling him to live beyond a normal human lifespan.

This super-healing ability enabled the supersoldier program Weapon X to bond the near indestructible metal alloy adamantium to Wolverine's skeleton and claws.

Meanwhile, Deadpool is a high-tech mercenary known for his wisecracks, black comedy, and satirical pop-culture references. Like the X-Men’s Wolverine, Deadpool is the product of the Canadian government’s paramilitary Weapon X program, although his place of birth is unknown. After Weapon X cured his terminal cancer by implementing a regenerative “healing factor” extracted from Wolverine, Deadpool is left disfigured and mentally unstable.

Ryan, who married actress Scarlett Johansson, 23, Sept. 27 in Canada, competed in the 2008 New York City Marathon on Nov. 2. The 6'3" heartthrob ran the marathon to help raise money for Parkinson's Disease research (Reynolds' dad suffers from the disease).

Ryan's new movie, Adventureland, comes out March 27. The light-hearted comedy co-stars Twilight cutie Kristen Stewart, 18.
