'X-Men First Class' Adds A Banshee

Fox enrolled two mutants in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class this week. Yesterday, we learned Emma Frost will indeed be part of the "mutants old and new", though it looks like Rosamund Pike lost the job to Alice Eve. (I'm actually disappointed. As much as I dislike that character and am perplexed by her appearing in First Class, Pike was the perfect Emma.) Now, Latino Review reported that Caleb Landry might be playing Sean Cassidy, also known as the mutant Banshee.

Landry is a big unknown to the majority of moviegoers. You Friday Night Lights fans might recognize him (that show is becoming a go-to for mutants) but he's probably best known as being "that kid on a bike" from the end of No Country for Old Men. That probably qualifies him to fight anything mutant haters can throw at someone. If you talk to Anton Chigurh and survive, then what else is there?

Rumor Has It! Caleb Landry Jones Could Play Banshee In X-Men: First Class | SciFi Mafia

Rumor Has It! Caleb Landry Jones Could Play Banshee In X-Men: First Class | SciFi Mafia

Caleb Landry Jones (The Last Exorcism) is reportedly up for the role of Banshee in director Matthew Vaughn‘s (Kick-Ass) forthcoming X-Men film, X-Men: First Class. Landry Jones will be seen in the upcoming horror flick, The Last Exorcism produced by Eli Roth and the young actor played the pivotal role of “Boy on Bike” in No Country for Old Men back in 2007.

According to Latino Review’s trusted sources, “Caleb Landry Jones is the top contender to bag the role of Sean Cassidy aka BANSHEE.” If the rumor holds true, Landry Jones would join a cast that includes Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds), Benjamin Walker (Flags of Our Fathers, The War Boys), James McAvoy (Wanted) and possibly Alice Eve (She’s Out of My League), Amber Heard (Zombieland, Drive Angry 3D) and Rosamund Pike (Surrogates).

X-Men: First Class is slated to hit theaters on June 3rd, 2011.
