Wolverine and James Bond are coming to Broadway! According to the New York Post, Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig will star in the Broadway show “A Steady Rain.” The play is a drama by Keith Huff in which the lifelong friendship between a pair of cops is tested when they find themselves entangled in a domestic dispute incident in a poor neighborhood.
While Jackman has Broadway experience – he won a Tony in 2004 for his performance as Peter Allen in “The Boy From Oz” – “A Steady Rain” will mark Craig’s New York City stage debut. Craig achieved Hollywood fame playing 007 in “Casino Royale” and “Quantum of Solace,” but actually started out on the stage in London.
The show’s producer, Barbara Broccoli, will be in the Big Apple this weekend checking out potential venues. Like the show’s stars, Broccoli has had experience in both stage productions and film. She oversees the entire James Bond franchise and produced “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” in 2005. While her last musical may have been considered a monumental flop, the article says theater sources are predicting “A Steady Rain” to be an immense hit with the potential to match Julia Roberts’ recording breaking 12-week run in “Three Days of Rain” during which $10 million worth of tickets were sold.
Jackman and Craig in "A Steady Rain" sounds great, but you can't tell me you wouldn't rather see Bond and Wolverine doing a duet.
