According to Variety Oceans Eleven director Steven Soderbergh is plotting a 3-D live-action rock ’n’ roll musical about Cleopatra. He is looking at Catherine Zeta-Jones to play the Egyptian queen and Hugh Jackman to play her lover, Marc Antony.
The film will apparently be shopped around to studios next week, in the hope that one will take up the job of producing the $30 million budget and distributing it. Catherine Zeta-Jones won an Oscar for her role in musical Chicago back in 2002, and when Hugh Jackman isn’t hacking and slashing away as Wolverine he can be seen on Broadway dancing in tight pants, as the video below will demonstrate.
