Berry Denies Engagement Rumors

From: IMDB.com

Actress Halle Berry has denied rumors she is secretly engaged to long-term boyfriend Gabriel Aubry. The Die Another Day star sparked reports she is planning to marry the father of her baby daughter Nahla after she was spotted wearing a ring on her wedding finger. The actress was snapped at the Entertainment Industry Foundation's Revlon Run/Walk last weekend wearing the ring - which reportedly belonged to Aubry's grandmother. However, according to People.com, the jewelry was purchased by Berry, who vehemently denies it is anything more than a fashion accessory. A source tells the website, "It's not an engagement ring. Halle just saw it and thought it was beautiful so she bought it for herself." Berry and Aubrey have been dating since 2005.

Halle Berry engaged, reports say

From:

Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry are reportedly engaged.

Canadian model Gabriel - who has a one-month-old daughter Nahla Ariela with Halle - is said to have proposed to the X-Men actress, and given her a ring which first belonged to his grandmother.

A source close the couple revealed: “Gabriel felt the time was right to propose. He gave her the family heirloom because he wanted to show her how much she means to him, and how she will be accepted into the Aubry family.

“The ring belonged to Gabriel’s grandmother – it was her engagement ring.”

Halle was first seen wearing a diamond ring on her engagement finger at the Revlon Walk/Run for Women in Los Angeles at the weekend.

The 41-year-old actress has also been wearing a necklace bearing the letter ‘N’ for Nahla.
Halle - who was last seen in movie Things We Lost in the Fire - will next appear in and produce psychological drama Frankie and Alice.

JANSSEN NOT READY FOR MOTHERHOOD

From:

Actress FAMKE JANSSEN has no plans to become a Hollywood mum - because she's too devoted to her pet dog.

The former Bond girl admits her four nieces help to satisfy every maternal yearning the actress has, and she has no plans to join fellow X-Men star Halle Berry and become a mum in her 40s.

She explains, "It has nothing to do with not liking children or anything of the sort. I love children. I love my nieces but it's not something I've looked for.

"My life revolves around my dog, Licorice. It's all about making him happy. Since I got him he's brought me such love and joy that I thought the only thing I can do is to make this creature happy, comfortable and spoil him as much as I possibly can."

But the new United Nations Ambassador on corruption issues is not ruling out motherhood altogether.

The 42 year old adds, "Maybe I'll adopt a kid one day. Would I adopt a baby? Maybe not, it would have to be a kid that's a little older."

With thanks to Canada.

Nothing like some hot man candy to help get us through the day!

X-Men star Shawn Ashmore wears nothing but the Canadian flag for the new U.K. Cosmo centerfold.

Thank you Canada!

Famke Janssen on Turn the River and her filmography

From:

There's plenty of high speed big thrill activity now playing at the multiplex but if you want an actress to get your heart racing this summer, you're going to have to look for counter-programming. Look no further than Famke Janssen's film elevating, career expanding work in Chris Eigeman's directorial debut Turn the River. The year is young but Janssen's work is arguably the best lead performance so far this year. The low key drama about a pool shark playing high stakes life games, opens in limited release May 9th. Janssen plays Kailey, an estranged mom looking to make a risky break for Canada with her son (wonderfully played by Jaymie Dorman) in tow. The trouble is this: she doesn't have custody, not even have visitation rights. But Kailey isn't the sort of woman to think too far beyond the current game and what balls (and bills) she's pocketing.

I had a chance to sit down with the actress (still best known for glamazon spins in action films like GoldenEye and the X-Men franchise though the career holds more variety than that) at the Indianapolis International Film Festival recently. She had just completed a Q & A with an audience who were clearly fond of her frazzled character work in Turn the River. We sat in the corner of a noisy nearby lounge to talk. Though interrupted frequently by well wishers and festival goers, the actress was patient, frank and generous with her time.

Her director Chris Eigeman, the charming actor you'll remember for those 90s Whit Stillman films (Metropolitan, Barcelona, The Last Days of Disco) also stopped by for a brief chat and very welcome compliments about the Film Experience blog. All in all, the night was the highlight of the festival. [Please Note: What follows is the actual conversation with Famke only, minus personal asides with minor edits for clarity, big spoilers or omissions due to noise levels on the recording.]

Who Might Make a Magneto Appearance?

From:
Latino Review has posted an interesting bit on a photo they came across while visiting the Hellboy II: The Golden Army creature effects shop. They were told that this particular character (a younger version of what we've seen before) will be part of Magneto, 20th Century Fox's "X-Men" spin-off (much like X-Men Origins: Wolverine).
The film, to be directed by David S. Goyer, is expected to center on a young Magneto discovering if his powers are real or not and the journey of his survival as a young man and how the one-time allies became mortal enemies.
